The Proportional Integral Notch and Coleman Blade Effective Wind Speed Estimators and Their Similarities

The estimation of the rotor effective wind speed is used in modern turbines to provide advanced power and load control capabilities. However, with ever increasing sizes, field over surface shows a higher degree spatial variation. A single therefore limits attainable levels mitigation, blade (BEWS) might present opportunities for improved control. This letter introduces two novel BEWS estimator approaches: proportional-integral-notch (PIN) based on individual measurements, Coleman targeting nonrotating frame. Given seeming disparities between these estimators, objective this analyze similarities approaches. It shown that PIN estimator, which equivalent diagonal form simple but method estimate BEWS. takes coupling effects blades into account, more well-behaved transient response than estimator.
